Cognos BI works with all modern data management products and
can import from older "legacy" systems. You can
utilise data from your main Operational and Business systems
and integrate data sets (like budgets and forecasts) built,
for example, in Microsoft Access or Excel.
Cognos makes light work of creating complex, multi-page board
reports without programming or workarounds. You can also merge
data from separate systems into single PowerPlay "cubes"
to allow analysis across areas of the business (for example,
activity, finance and personnel).
BI allows Information staff to ensure that managers have
a stable, clean and accessible management information base.
It provides the summary information you need for periodic
reports and time based information for trend analysis; and
it presents information using terms that managers understand.
Results of inquiries can be output as high quality reports
including your letterhead and logo, ready to send out straight
from the printer or fax. Or you can export data to other packages,
like Microsoft Office. This integration allows you to automate
the production of your periodic reports.
